NEW ARTIST – CHRISTIAN DOTREMONT

Co-founder of the Cobra movement, a poetic, artistic and experimental movement, Christian Dotremont is the inventor of the logogramme. His logograms, through which poetry, thought and emotion are improvised through graphic creation are real poems to look at. “What I do in sum is to exaggerate the natural freedom of writing”. Thus the writer and Belgian artist Christian Dotremont (1922-1979) summed up the practice of the logogram, which is a striking illustration of the relationship between graphic art and literature. It is undeniably one of the greatest poetic inventions of the second half of the twentieth century.
